Location: Mostly remote, with regular office meetings and occasional offsite client meetings

Job Purpose:  The Accounting Manager will oversee the bookkeeping team and is responsible for high-quality financial management and compliance across client accounts. This role is critical for maintaining and improving financial processes, providing leadership to the bookkeeping staff, and ensuring client satisfaction through effective financial oversight and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Team Management and Leadership: Oversee the bookkeeping team, ensuring all financial tasks are completed accurately and on time. Provide guidance, training, and support to bookkeepers, fostering a high-performance team environment.

Performance Metrics Oversight: Monitor and manage key performance metrics for the bookkeeping team, including:

  • Gross profit generation targets
  • Timely delivery of financial statements
  • Maintenance of utilization and realization rates above 85% and 90%, respectively.

Quality Control: Ensure all financial reporting is compliant with accounting standards and client requirements. Review work of bookkeepers to guarantee accuracy and reliability of financial data.

Client Relations: Manage relationships with key client stakeholders to ensure satisfaction and address any financial concerns. Represent the firm in client meetings and oversee the financial reporting and reconciliation processes.

Training and Development: Lead ongoing training initiatives for new and existing team members, ensuring the team is proficient in QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Office, and other necessary tools and practices.

Process Development: Heavily involved in the development and optimization of internal operational processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Tax Function Development: Responsible for developing a tax function to serve our clients effectively, despite the firm currently not handling tax services.

Business Development: Contribute to overall business growth and development, identifying and pursuing new opportunities to expand the firm's services and client base.

Community Engagement: Coordinate and lead the firm's community service efforts, enhancing the firm’s visibility and contribution to the community.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or related field.
  • Proven experience in managing accounting teams and developing business strategies.
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping, financial management, and tax function establishment.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple client accounts and meet deadlines.
